My Self-reflcetion

My Self Reflection

Through my volunteer experience I learned a lot about special needs people in ZHO. At the beginning we had our own ideas about them, for example we thought they are unable to treated with, all of them have a mentally special needs, their attitude will be different and they can’t understand us, as well we had our fears from the idea of volunteering in ZHO, but we challenged our selves and choose to do a new thing in our lives.

However, until we arrived there, we found out how the organization treat them, how they teach them and make them ordered and organized. In every time the students see us, they smiled and felt happy and others came to us and shake our hands “handshake” well that was unexpected. That changed our look and made us to rethink about the idea of them.

At a while, they treated us like brothers, they look like a family there, and we joined the family, also we found out how clean and white there hurt is, because as we sow, they never leave to bus when someone is sad from them, until they apologize to that person. These are things that we surly affected by, now whenever I see a special need person, I always smile and feel good, the fear is gone.

Furthermore, we did some activities with the students, also we met new people “the teachers” and in every class we cooperate with, the happiness and since of humor were inside also with the students. We try our best to help them at their work, also we always ask the teacher if we could help in anything, sometimes we work as a team and cooperated with each other.

At the future, I wish to alert the people who have the same ideas that we had before, and change their reflections about them. We are all equal, its not fair to treat them like they are crazy or something, because they didn’t choose to be like that, and we can help.

Project day#4

today was our last day of volunteering at ZHO, it was sad to say goodbye to those kids also the teachers, all of them treated us well. A happy hours were spend in that place, times we will never forget about.

we were in the welding workshop and the teacher gave us some general information to be useful for us in our life. also at the last we played some football with the students to make them enjoy the day, as we know they love football a lot, when they score, they do some moves and act like the players. we took some pictures with the students and some teachers to be remembered.

Project day#3

In our third day, we surprised of Shaikh Hazza coming to ZHO, even though the employees there didn't expect his visit, also we didn't have the chance to meet him personally. Well, first of all like always we singed up our presents then we went to the carpentry workshop and help the students to complete their work and in the right way. Also with the time running, the shy situation was disappears, and we had fun with the students and we treated them as  our brothers. furthermore, the teacher told us that how their hearts are white, he said "if he see's me sad, he don't accept to go to the bus until he satisfies me", how kind they are!

then we went to the break and they started playing with the ball and jumping to avoid the ball, then the teacher asked us to join, well, we did it.

Project day#2

In our second day, it was the time to start working. We waited for each other until we grouped, then we went to our supervisor Fatima Alhamly to tell us what to do.
Then we visited the Carpentry workshop, we met the teacher and he apologized to us and said “I didn’t prepare work for volunteers this day” but he explained to us about the workshop and there are 3 levels for this one and showed us the students works.

Next, we moved to the Gym, there we saw the students playing football, then the teachers told us to join and play, then we played with the students and enjoyed the game, after a while some of the teachers also joined, and I discovered that how the students are good inside them, when ever someone is falling down or something they help each other even if they’re against teams.

Then we went to the Metal workshop with a teacher his name is Jasim Alali, he is a young guy we talked and joked with him, it was a nice time, then we asked him what we can do to help, he gave as some work to do, basically organizing the workshop with him also the students. While we were talking he asked us about our ages, and Khlifa told him that Salem he just get 19 years old “his birthday is today”, then teacher left for minutes, when he arrived, he had a box in his hands, and inside that box there was a cake for Salem’s birthday, we surprised and didn’t expect that, Salem was very glad for this.

At the end, Mr. Jasim was a very nice teacher, also we communicate with the students, and we find out that they are funny too.

Project day#1

To begin with, ZHO is an organization of special needs people and there they have a lot of cases and they study the students if they are mentally needs or physically, also every student has his own ability or talent so they try to make everyone of them do whatever they can do. At our first time at ZHO, we entered to the loopy to wait for Fatima to meet her in her office, she is the responsible for all volunteers students. Then she welcomed us and treated us nicely, then she explained to us about the organization and what type of studies they have, also she explained about the volunteers who came before us and what they did to give us tips about what we will do.

However, we met one of the trainers and he showed us the place and the workshops that the students are in. They have many different workshops, and for every workshop there is a level to join it, the least level is farming, and the highest level is Electronics Workshop and there they have the most intelligent students, so we met them and we felt that they look so normal and there is no differences between us, also they know how to speak just like us, thats surprised us.

In every workshop there is a trainer, and we met them all, they introduce them selves then they explain what they are doing. At the next time we will talk to Fatima to choose at what workshop we will join to help the students, and here some of the photos that we took.

here is the electronic workshop. the wood is made by a student who can't catch the tool probably, so the wood helps him.

the frame is made by the students.

         some of the students work

here is the safety rules that they always learn at the beginning of all classes.

at the last here is a student who pass all the workshops and now he is responsible of the students and he explained to us what he is doing.
